Her wishlist in her own words: "I’m looking for upmarket and commercial fiction: women’s, historical, domestic drama, bookclub, suspense, romcoms and comic novels—word of mouth or TikTok phenomenon. I’m looking for a great voice and writing that is commanding. I don’t generally represent YA, children’s, horror, romance or cozy mysteries. I will occasionally consider upmarket speculative and scifi. I have a soft spot for witches and magic, but I am not interested in romantasy (I’m not against it; I simply don’t know the genre). In nonfiction, I look for science and physics (always looking for someone to explain the universe to me), health (but no how-tos), current and political events. Please no addiction or child-abuse memoirs. I love food and cooking but I am not the agent for the genre, unless you’ve written a unique food memoir. Here are some of my favorite books from the last few years: Hamnet, The Shampoo Effect, Go Gentle, North Woods, The Director, Whistler, Say Nothing, This Is Happiness, Heart the Lover, I Cheerfully Refuse, The Wedding People, There Are Rivers in the Sky, The God of the Woods, James, The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, Martyr, The Friend, Trust, The Twelfth of December, Demon Copperhead, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, A Gentleman in Moscow, The Overstory" Jane Gelfman is currently closed to queries.
